Ringgold papers, 1879-1953.

Manuscripts, correspondence, legal documents, and printed material concerning the Parks and Ringgold families, life in Duncan and Solomonville, the formation of the Duncan Guard in 1885, and research collected for Ringgold's book "Frontier Days in the Southwest." The materials are chiefly typescript copies of original documents. Manuscripts are family biographies and personal histories, many of which were used in her book. Correspondence concerns Graham County history, research for her book, and attempts to obtain pensions for members of the Duncan Guard. There are also twoletters sent to the Gila County's Sheriff's Office and James Parks, Sheriff; one concerning outlaw, Agustin Chacon, 1932, and the other about outlaw Black Jack Christian, 1936. A typescript is present of Sheb Oatman's diary written during a trip from Texas to New Mexico in 1879. Legal documents are copies of material relating to the Duncan/Clifton Guard, most obtained from the Arizona State Archives. There are also typescripts of newspaper articles dealing with Indian-White conflicts in Graham County.
